Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that swept through a Hollywood movie theater early Thursday.
A cleaning crew spotted the fire at the Regal Oakwood Cinema at 2800 Oakwood Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. and called for help, Hollywood Fire Rescue Battalion Chief John Kuklinski said.
Firefighters responded and crews peeled back part of the roof to fight the fire, Kuklinski said. No one was injured.
"A movie theater poses a lot of challenges because of the height of the structure and all the work has to be done on the roof and off of ladders," he said.
The power in the theater was shut off early Thursday. Now investigators are trying to determine how it started.
"There is nothing that was obvious why it started, it was probably electrical," Kuklinski said.
Kuklinski said it was fortunate the cleaning crew was there.
"If the call didn't come in as quick as it did, this could have gone undetected for probably several hours," he said. "We would have gotten the call, at that point it could have been a fully involved roof fire at this structure."
