A 6-year-old boy died after a hit-and-run in Miramar, police said.
The boy was struck by a vehicle near 6200 Miramar Parkway as he was crossing the road with his uncle shortly after 8:30 p.m., police said.
The impact threw the child on the roof of the vehicle and then in front of the car, which hit him again before it fled, police said.
He was a few feet behind his uncle, who was carrying his baby, when the incident occurred, according to police.
“If you do see a vehicle with front-end damage, possibly a shattered windshield, please give Crime Stoppers a call or contact the Miramar Police Department," police spokeswoman Tania Rues said. "We have a 6-year-old boy who died today because of the actions of this driver.”
Authorities said they are looking for a newer model, white Dodge Charger with front-end damage. The vehicle has 22-inch rims.
The phone number for Broward Crime Stoppers is 954-493-TIPS.
