One person was killed after a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Miramar early Thursday.
Miramar Police say that the accident occurred after 9 a.m. near the intersection of Red Road and Miramar Parkway. The trailer crashed into a pole in the median and was immediately engulfed in flames.
Authorities later confirmed that the tractor-trailer driver was killed. He was later identified as 50-year-old Robert Dodgen of LaGrange, Georgia.
The cleanup and continuing investigation left Red Road closed in both directions between Miramar Parkway and Pembroke Road. The crash also knocked out power for many residents in the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
