A female victim was shot to death outside a home on Northwest 18th Street in Lauderhill Monday night, police said.
"We actually had an officer in the area on an unrelated call, an alarm call, who actually did hear a series of shots," Lauderhill Lt. Greg Solowsky said of the shooting, which happened around 6:30 p.m. on the 3300 block of Northwest 18th Street.
Police did not immediately identify the victim.
Police weren't the only ones close by. Many neighbors were outside when the shooting happened – possible witnesses who may know something and not even realize it.
"What we're really concerned about is the amount of people that were out here," Solowsky said. "Everybody has a cell phone nowadays. We don't know what someone could have potentially captured during this incident. That's why we're asking for the public's help."
Family members and friends stood as close as they could to the crime scene. Some were getting emotional as they waited for answers.
Now, the search is on for a dark Lexus or Infinity with dark tinted windows. Many people said they saw the vehicle leaving the scene of the crime.
