A police chase through two counties ended with one person dead after an exchange of gunfire with suspects as the pursuit ended.
The chase started with an armed robbery at a Western Union in Miami-Dade County. Miramar Police traced the tag of the car in the armed robbery to a Miramar address. When officers arrived at the address, the suspect fled the scene in his car.
Miramar Police began to chase the suspect including Miami Gardens Police, Miami-Dade Police, and Miami Police. The police pursuit ended in Miami around 3 p.m. near the intersection of 69th Street and 6th Court.
Police and the criminals then fired at each other and one of the men in the car was killed. A second suspect was arrested.
“What happened was that during the pursuit, shots were fired at our officers,” said Tania Rues of Miramar Police. “Our officers fired back. One suspect is dead on scene.”
Police said the suspects involved in the chase may have been part of other robberies.
