The effort to keep Heat star Dwyane Wade in Miami could get some assistance from local politicians.
The Miami-Dade County Commission will discuss Tuesday a resolution to rename the county to "Miami-Wade" County for the first week of July.
Commissioner Joe Martinez is pushing the resolution that would take effect on July 1, the same day Wade can officially file for free agency. Commissioners are expected to make a decision on the resolution today.
The resolution is just the latest move to keep the face of the franchise in the Magic City.
As soon as the Heat's season was over, the team began its "We Want Wade" campaign to keep MV3 in his house. The campaign has an official website, where fans can send messages and upload videos, as well as learn the do's and don'ts of the campaign.
"The number one thing to keep in mind is no badgering! We Want Wade to feel the love, not feel the pressure," a message on the site reads.
But the team may have gone against its own advice when it erected a massive blank check billboard near Wade's house.
