The husband of a state corrections officer who was the victim of a brutal stabbing has been charged with her murder after confessing to the heinous crime, police said.
Miami Police said 31-year-old Jabcol Williams admitted to stabbing wife Rhonda Mickens-Williams, 36, hours after her body was found in a pool of blood outside her Overtown home in the 1800 block of Northwest 1st Court.
Williams had initially told police that he'd found his wife on the side of the house, and he agreed to voluntarily accompany police to the station.
After at first denying involvement in the murder for several hours, police say Williams finally admitted to beating and stabbing Mickens-Williams after an argument.
"He was very calm, very calm. At first he denied any involvement but he later confessed and told us in detail what happened," said Miami Police homicide detective Fernando Bosch. "He was sorry, he said he was sorry and said he knew it was wrong what he did."
Police said they'd visited the home in the past for domestic violence issues.
Williams has been charged with second-degree murder. He was denied bond during a court appearance Wednesday.
