Warren Sapp wasn't the only NFL-er getting in domestic trouble this weekend.
Miami Dolphin’s Defensive Tackle Tony McDaniel was arrested Saturday night after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.
On Saturday at 8 a.m., police were dispatched to McDaniel’s home in Davie. McDaniel’s live-in girlfriend, Alaina Smith, told police she had a physical altercation with McDaniel.
Smith claims McDaniel confronted her in the parking lot of their apartment. He was upset over unanswered phone calls. As the fight escalated, McDaniel took Smith’s purse and searched it. She tried to pull it free when she claims he pushed her, causing her to fall to the floor and hit her head against the pavement. She ran inside and told two guests staying in their home to call police.
McDaniel claims Smith attacked him after returning from a night out with friends. Upset because he did not return home until the early morning, she began to slap him in the face. McDaniel claims he used his forearms to prevent her from striking him further.
Police did observe small scratches on Smith’s fingers but no injuries to her head. Smith refused to go to the hospital. McDaniel had scratches on his fingers and hands.
McDaniel was arrested and charged with battery. He bonded out Sunday morning.
