Over 170 pounds of cocaine were seized by officers at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport last weekend after the stash was left in bags on the luggage carousel.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found the luggage on Sunday containing 171 pounds of cocaine. It was concealed within three bags on the carousel.
“Our officers are constantly on alert for any circumstances that are out of the ordinary and their hard work and dedication protect our homeland from all manner of threats” said Harold Woodward, director of field operations in Miami for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Officers are still investigating this incident. No arrests were made at the time the luggage was discovered.
