After driving 120 mph, a Miami police officer was charged with reckless driving and arrested on Florida's Turnpike in Broward County while on his way to his second job a few weeks ago, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, The Miami Herald reports.
Fausto Lopez, 35, was arrested at gunpoint by a highway patrol trooper after he ignored multiple warnings to stop, according to authorities, the Herald reports.
Sgt. Mark Wysocky, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman, identified Lopez as a Miami police officer, the Herald reports.
The incident, first reported by Univision 23, happened early on Oct. 11 when a trooper identified as D.J. Watts spotted a Miami patrol car switching lanes in a dangerous manner on the southbound turnpike at Commercial Boulevard, according to a report, the Herald said.
Lopez, who was driving over 120 mph, ignored repeated warnings from Watts to stop, even when she caught up to him and turned on her lights and siren, according to a report, the Herald reports.
Lopez stopped his car near Hollywood seven minutes after the beginning of the chase, according to a report, the Herald said.
As Watts arrested Lopez, he told to her that he was driving fast because he was going to be late to his second job, an off-duty job, according to a report, the Herald said.

"She drew her gun for her own safety based on the actions of the driver," Wysocky said.
Lopez, who was criminally charged with reckless driving, was released, according to a report, the Herald said.
Wysocky did not immediately return a phone message by NBC Miami on Saturday.
It is unknown if Lopez has an attorney.
