A central Florida man charged in the deaths of his wife and her young children is on suicide watch after jail officials say he stashed a cup with some pills in his cell.
Luis Toledo was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Michael Otto, 8, and his sister Thalia, 9. He is also charged with second-degree murder in the death of their mother, Yessina Suarez. Their bodies have not been found.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports a prosecutor suggested Toledo may have been trying to gather a lethal dose of medication. He's also refused meals.
According to a corrections report, Toledo attempted suicide in October while being questioned by authorities. Toledo barricaded himself in a restroom and broke a mirror, cutting his neck and arm with glass shards.
