Hialeah firefighters responded to a fire at a strip mall Thursday morning.
The blaze broke out near a restaurant in the building at 914 E. 25th Street. It also damaged a discount store, insurance office and pet shop.
By around 8 a.m., the fire was under control with firefighters working to ventilate all the affected areas of the building, Hialeah Fire Rescue officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters said the biggest issue was the intense summer heat they had to deal with.
"You can imagine in this heat, we´re just standing here and I´m sweating," Hialeah Fire Rescue Capt. Cesar Espinosa said. "The humidity is a very big factor, just with all the gear we wear and doing any sort of work is gonna be taxing on our crews. That´s why you see so many personnel, because we have to switch them out."
Espinosa said most of the cages in the pet shop were empty, except for a few with birds and chickens that weren't close to the flames.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
