Alarm Clock in Baggage Prompts West Palm Beach Airport Evacuation

Officials said the beeping sound coming from a solitary suit case at Palm Beach International Airport was an alarm clock.

Turns out the beeping sound coming from a suspicious baggage at a West Palm Beach airport that prompted a brief evacuation was an alarm clock.

Authorities say the sound was coming from a bag at the Silver Airlines ticket counter at the Palm Beach International Airport. The bag was unattended, prompting officials to evacuate the area on Saturday.

Airport spokeswoman Sandy Davis told the Palm Beach Post that explosive experts were called to the scene because officials "deemed it needed more investigation." Officials later determined the bag had an alarm clock inside that was making the beeping sound.

Some flights were delayed during the investigation. The Palm Beach Post reports that the Transportation Safety Administration has found guns in baggage eight times this year at the airport.
