Welcome to Watch List, where we identify five things on TV to watch while you stay at home, divorce your cheatin’ husband, and adopt yourself a new baby. LET’S GO!
THE OFFICE – 9:00PM (NBC) The big news this week was Steve Carell saying next season would probably be his last at “The Office,” which is odd, given that Carell has said many times that he owed the show a great deal and would stay for as long as they would have him. That suggests to me that perhaps the show itself will end next season. It makes sense, given that some of the characters are running on fumes these days, Carell’s perhaps most of all.
HOWEVAH, I could actually see a scenario where a Carell-free “Office” actually gives the show a boost. Let’s face it. The show, as it stands right now, centers on Michael Scott being unrealistically stupid and yet somehow keeping a job he would have never have been hired for to begin with. It gets a little old to see him make faux pas after faux pas. Getting rid of his character means we could make Dwight the show’s main focus (he remains the funniest part of the show) and add new, fresh characters. It’s an office. There’s turnover. Or, at least, there should be. ANTICIPATION: THE END?
PARKS AND RECREATION – 8:30PM (NBC) Ooh, loogit! Parks and Rec is back! Tremendous. Tonight, Ron is upset at April. Perhaps because she took his bacon. The man adores bacon. ANTICIPATION: HIGH
CSI – 9:00PM (CBS) This episode is called “Take My Life, Please!” and a comedian is murdered. If the comedian was responsible for naming tonight’s episode, I do believe we have ourselves a motive. ANTICIPATION: WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH BULLET WOUNDS? HUH?
ICELAND VOLCANO ERUPTION – 8:00PM (NatGeo – an NBC/Universal network) It may have grounded air travel for a week and crippled the world economy. But still, it was an erupting volcano, and that makes it pretty rad all the same. ANTICIPATION: ASHY!
SOBER HOUSE WITH DR. DREW – 10:00PM (VH1) The celebs leave the house. Oh, but you’ll be back. You’ll ALL be back. Specially YOU, Sizemore! ANTICIPATION: RELAPSE!
